hockey,
winning [2] Comments

Well, the team played down at Joe Louis Arena on March 18th for their Championship game. I was sick so I couldn’t go. I hear that our team looked tired. I think they were nervous. Final score was 2-1 with the Trenton Cobras winning. Many on our team were upset, but I’ve heard that my son made sure that everyone realized that they were “Second Place Champions.” He’s very optimistic, and I’m so proud of him. He’s the one wearing the red gloves.
We’re so proud of how well he’s done this year, and also that he made a travel team for the spring season. We’ve got a lot of hockey to fit into the next six weeks, but it will be a great experience for him. He wants to play on a AAA team (read that as a very time-consuming and expensive team). We’re hoping to convince him of at least one year of travel, and then we’ll let him try out for AAA teams. Until then, I need to start saving up a bunch of money to pay for his ice bills! It’s all worth it when he gets off the ice with those red cheeks and asks when the next practice is going to be.
Peace,
Kris

Life,
sick [2] Comments
I’ve been so sick. I mean, sick like I’ve never been sick before. There is a horrific respiratory flu going around, and I caught it over a week ago. I still don’t know what the date is – I mean, I was on the couch ALL LAST WEEK. Horrible stuff.
I’m finally feeling like a human again, and it couldn’t have come at a better time – the boys are home for Spring Break. The Easter Bunny barely hit our home this year – I still can’t believe that we pulled it off. Thank goodness my sister hosted the actual Easter dinner. There was no way in h*e* double hockey sticks that I could’ve had it here. No way. My house is still a disaster from not being fully present the past ten or so days.
I felt pretty good yesterday and ended up doing some errands. Big mistake. This morning I woke up feeling horrible again. So, I had plans of cleaning and doing more errands today, but that’s just not going to happen. I’m hoping we have a quiet day with the boys playing their new Wii game and me lounging on the couch.
Hope you’re feeling well.
Peace,
Kris

Big sigh. I’m so glad that last week is OVER. I can not believe how busy I was with work and Book Fair.
This week should be a bit calmer with my days being filled with work and edits, and the nights filled with family activities.
Over this past weekend, my niece got engaged. It was the most romantic engagement EVER. Mark, my soon-t0-be-nephew, staged this elaborate affair where he had our family and their friends bring a rose to Stephanie which had a saying, “Do you remember when…”. Stephanie thought she was going to my sister’s house for a birthday party for my mom. Little did she know that there were over 30 people hiding in the basement, ready to walk up to gorgeous music and hand her a very special flower. I was in the beginning – maybe the 7th or 8th person – but by the time I got upstairs and waited in the living room, I couldn’t stop crying! When I walked into the kitchen to hand her the rose, I couldn’t say my lines. I was crying so much. What a dork! I was supposed to say, “Do you remember when you made me chocolate covered strawberries for Valentine’s Day?” But all I got out was, “Do you remember, oh I can’t say it, just read the card.”
Luckily there were so many roses and cards, that I don’t think my blunder messed it up.
After all the roses were delivered, my sister brought Stephanie downstairs where there were lights and larger signs of the sayings and a bouquet of red balloons waiting for her. We all crowded around as she opened a fake box with another saying in it and waited for Mark to make his appearance. He said some lovely words that would melt the heart of any woman. But the best part was when she said, YES!
It was such a touching experience, and I joked with my other younger nieces that their boyfriends better talk to Mark before proposing.
Ah, young love!
I hope your weekend was just as special.
Peace,
Kris

Well, the boys are home today because it snowed like the dickens (as my grandmother would say) last night. It’s nice to have them home, but I’ve already had to warn them that if they fight, they’ll be in their rooms ALL day. I’ve got work to do, and I don’t plan on playing referee between the two of them. Hopefully in a few hours, I can throw them outside they’ll go outside to play, and all will be quiet in the house. I hope to get some of my own writing done today. I’ve been slacking in that area due to work and other commitments.
Speaking of work, another one of my author’s books has gone to print. It is a memoir of a woman who was a hidden child during the Holocaust. It is an uplifting book, something that one wouldn’t expect. I can’t wait for the printer proof to come back. That’s one step closer to getting it in actual book format.
Stay warm!
